forgiveness
Définition(s)
- Forgiveness is a response to being wronged that entails a change of heart in which anger, resentment, or indignation gives way to an attitude of goodwill toward the wrongdoer. Married persons view the capacity to seek and grant forgiveness as one of the most significant factors contributing to marital longevity and marital satisfaction, supporting Robert Quillen's widely cited observation, “A happy marriage is the union of two forgivers.” In Western culture, forgiveness is thus considered critical in close relationships.
