Definición
- The Selective Construction and Preservation of Experience (SCAPE) framework "is an attempt to construct a general account of performance and subjective experience [...] The framework posits that every interaction between mind and the environment involves the construction of a mental model of the stimulus within the current context and task. This construction has two aspects: the production function, resulting in performance, and the evaluation function, resulting in subjective experience. The production function is controlled by an interaction among the person's current intentions, the constraints and affordances of the stimulus and context, and the representations of prior experiences in memory that are cued by ongoing performance; it causes perceptual, cognitive, and motoric responses to stimuli. The evaluation function monitors the integrity of the production function and causes the person to adopt an attitude toward it. These functions make separate contributions to the act of remembering."
